Bachelor’s of Sexual and Reproductive Health

In this novel course, students are introduced to theories of Sexual and Reproductive Health, and the concepts and approaches of Africentrism in addition to the art of conducting SRH Advocacy including strategic litigation in the African context. This will enhance participants’ capacities and equip them with the art to conduct advocacy utilising tools and interventions rooted in Africentrism 

 

In the realm of Sexual and Reproductive Health, substantial efforts have been exerted. However, recognizing the persistent need for elevated initiatives, this program stands as a critical platform for SRH advocates seeking to enhance their skills.  

The uniqueness of this programme lies in its explicit focus on the regional sexual and reproductive health frameworks and institutions within Africa, viewed through an Africentrism lens. This distinctive approach offers a dynamic and comprehensive learning environment, providing students with unparalleled insights and tools to effectively navigate and utilize these mechanisms.  

The objectives of this programme are:

  1. To introduce students to the core theories, principles, strategies and Africentrism approaches for conducting SRH advocacy.  
  2. To equip the students with the knowledge, skills and mindset to identify, understand and tackle the dynamic SRH issues with in the national and regional African context utilizing Africentrism approaches.  
  3. To train students to design and implement effective SRH advocacy plans and interventions, seamlessly integrating Africentrism approaches.  
  4. To prepare students for lifelong learning in SRH Advocacy.  

Students’ entry through A’ level must have two Principal passes.  

     a) Mature Age Entry  

A candidate must be at least 25 years old and above, and have scored 50 % and above in the mature age examination from an NCHE recognised center.  

    b) A Higher Education Certificate (HEC) 

A candidate must have passed a relevant HEC accredited by the NCHE.  

    c) Diploma

A candidate must have passed a relevant diploma with a credit from a recognized institution.  

The programme structure is divided up into academic years, semesters, course units, and course names, with their corresponding Lecture Hours (LH), Practical hours (PH), contact hours (CH) and credit units (CU) as shown below.
